Young people in Razgrad received health messages about prevention and responsible behavior during an educational meeting dedicated to reproductive health and family planning. The initiative is a joint effort of the Regional Health Inspectorate and the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) in Sofia, in partnership with the Youth Center in Razgrad.

Influencers Victoria and Elyasa presented the health messages in an accessible and engaging way to students from eight vocational and specialized high schools. Students were encouraged to ask questions and share opinions. Part of the program included a visual demonstration comparing the price of contraceptives with the potential consequences of unprotected sex, such as unwanted pregnancy or infections. Emphasis was placed on the fact that some sexually transmitted infections are asymptomatic, but can lead to serious damage to the reproductive system and difficulties in conceiving. Young people also learned about the importance of prevention, reliable sources of information and the role of doctors as the most reliable source of medical advice. Through interactive questions and games, participants had the opportunity to reinforce what they had learned, with the most active receiving symbolic prizes.

All attendees received information brochures with samples of protective equipment and a QR code for access to additional information.

“The goal of the educational and information campaign is to provide basic, partially specialized knowledge and to provoke interest among students to seek additional information on their own,” Ralitsa Zgalevska, project coordinator in BFPA, told BTA. She emphasized that the main message to young people is that they are responsible for their own health and need to be informed in order to make the right decisions. …”
