International Expert Meeting Marks the Start of a New Erasmus+ Partnership

17.06.2026

From 15 to 17 June, the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) hosted an international expert meeting attended by partners from Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Latvia, and Romania. The meeting was moderated by Karen De Wilde from Sensoa, Flanders, Belgium.

The main focus of the discussions was “Health Education and Prevention of Abuse among Adolescents with Special Educational Needs” – an area in which BFPA has been actively engaged for many years. Our approach is aimed not only at children and young people themselves, but also at those who play a key role in their lives – teachers, parents, caregivers, and other professionals. Through them, we are able to reach young people and contribute to creating a safer and more supportive environment for their development.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences, share good practices, and jointly plan future activities. It also laid the groundwork for a new two-year international project, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme, which will officially begin in August. Within this initiative, BFPA will work together with partners from Flanders and North Macedonia to develop and implement innovative approaches supporting young people with special educational needs.

This will be the 95th project in the history of our organization – an important milestone and another testament to our long-standing commitment to the health, rights, and well-being of children and young people.

And our 100th project is already just around the corner.
