BFPA actively participated in the international conference ‘Digital Citizens: Young People and Social Networks. Critical Thinking’
From October 9 to 11, 2025, the Open Space Foundation, with the support of the British Council Bulgaria, hosted the international conference “Digital Citizens: Young People and Social Networks. Critical Thinking”, which brought together experts, organizations, and active young people dedicated to promoting digital culture and literacy.
On October 10, the team of the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) took an active part in the event’s program – with an interactive booth at Largo and a presentation of the project “Digital Children”, implemented jointly with our partners from Parents Association and the National Network for Children, with whom we jointly represent the National Center for Safe Internet (Safenet.bg).

Dr. Radosveta Stamenkova from BFPA moderated a discussion on critical thinking and safe online behavior among young people, involving students, teachers, and professionals from various organizations. The discussions highlighted the need for a more conscious and responsible digital presence and the role of adults in supporting children and youth.

‘Meaningful, inspiring, and energizing – that’s how we would describe our participation,’ shared our colleagues. ‘We take with us valuable contacts, new ideas, and confidence that change in our shared digital culture is happening as we all become more aware and responsible.’
The expo within the conference gathered organizations that work daily to ensure a safer and better-informed digital environment in Bulgaria, including: British Council, Institut Français, International Youth Center Pernik, Association ‘Opportunities without Borders’, CVS Bulgaria, Concordia Bulgaria Foundation, Arte Urbana Collectif, Teach for Bulgaria Foundation, Maria’s World Foundation, Sofia Municipality, The Future Now Association, Digital Children by Safenet.bg, and others.
Together, we are building a safer, more conscious, and more responsible digital future for children and young people in Bulgaria.
The conference was held within the framework of the Open Space Foundation’s project G-LENS (Gender-Inclusive, Long-lasting and Empowered Networks and Societies), co-funded by the CERV Programme of the European Union.
