Burgas, October 24–25, 2025. The 12th National Conference on Global Education under the title ‘Education for Health: For Every Child, Every School, Every Community’ was held at the Morska Gara Congress Center – Burgas. The event was organized by the Bulgarian Platform for International Development (BPID) in partnership with Medicines Du Mond – Bulgaria, Burgas Municipality and with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science.

The forum brought together experts, representatives of institutions, teachers, NGOs, health mediators and active citizens working in the field of education, health literacy and sustainable development. The main objective of the conference was to put health education in the spotlight as a key element for the well-being of young people and for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The program included plenary sessions, practical workshops and panel discussions dedicated to topics such as health literacy, digital health, the role of school in building health habits, as well as the use of digital tools and innovative approaches in education. Among the highlights was the relationship between health education and public health indicators, as well as the presentation of good practices from schools and civic society organizations from across the country.

The Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association for (BFPA) actively participated in the conference by moderating some of the panels and presenting its activities and projects related to health and sexual education. Among them were:

  • the “Digital Children” project, aimed at developing digital literacy and safe online behavior among students;
  • the joint campaign of BFPA and Durex, which aims to prevent early and unwanted pregnancy and reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections.

BFPA’s participation in the event emphasized the importance of the organization as an active partner in efforts to improve the health culture and education of young people. The exchange of experience, shared practices and contacts created during the forum contribute to expanding cooperation between schools, institutions and non-governmental organizations in the field of health education.

The conference ended with a general discussion on the need for debate, a systematic approach and sustainable policies in support of health education and prevention among adolescents – a topic on which BFPA continues to work consistently through its campaigns, trainings and partnerships in the country.
