Dr. Radosveta Stamenkova: We Start Thinking about How to get Better after the Thing has Happened
While thousands are fighting for a baby – Bulgaria is in the top ranking in the number of abortions in the EU.
…
According to Dr. Radosveta Stamenkova from the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA), the lack of prevention leads to the high number of abortions.

“What’s the point of terminating a pregnancy when there are so many different methods to prevent unwanted pregnancy, the simple use of a condom or the pill would make this problem less. Rather, it is due to the reluctance in our geographical latitudes to think preventively. We start thinking about how to get better after something has happened, says the executive director of the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association.
Doctors are categorical – abortion statistics are not real.
“Termination of pregnancy is also carried out in many places where it is not reported,” commented Dr. Dikov.
And in order to prevent Bulgaria from being in the top ranking of unborn children, doctors call for prevention.
