The First Youth Campaign after the Peer Educator Training – Already Implemented

Maria, Yuliy, Raya, Elena and Kiril are high school students at 1st Hing School ‘Pencho Slaveykov’. In early November this year, together with their peers from Sofia, Dupnitsa, Radomir and Kyustendil, they were trained by us as peer educators on topics related to critical thinking and online security. At the end of the training, the participants presented their ideas for campaigns that they could implement themselves to help their peers on topics that are so important for all young people. Even before the middle of the next month – December – the five classmates had already implemented their ‘Digital Footprint’ campaign.

‘Between December 4 and 9, we managed to get into teams of pairs in a 5 classes (6th and 7th grade). The students listened with interest and rarely made noise. Most of them had no questions because they were uncomfortable. The class teacher took the topic very seriously and supported us the whole time. It was very interesting, at least for me, because it was something new. I would definitely do it again,” says Elena.

We are happy and proud to support young people to implement their initiatives, which will benefit their peers by spreading their knowledge and provoking younger ones to think about what they post on social networks and how their actions could potentially, in some cases actually, ‘backfire’ on them.

The initiative is within the framework of the ‘Digital Children’ project.
