Prisons without Risk – Education for Inmates on Legal Topics in Stara Zagora

16.02.2016

The participants had to connect their knowledge on specifics of the illnesses and the way of transmitting of the infections with defined risky situations and terms. Legal aspects of the treatment of HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C in the context of the Law on Execution of Sentences were presented as a continuation of the work with prisoners trained on the specificity of the three infections in July 2015
The team realized the training of the two groups: Ventzislav Kirkov, Daniela Dikova and Ralitza Zgalevska from BFPA; Ivana Murdjeva, lawyer; Milen Chavrov from Hope Against AIDS Foundation supervised by Prof. Radka Argirova. An opportunity for voluntary and anonymous counseling and testing on HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C was given to the participants.
The project’s duration is 14 months (March 2015 – April 2016). Its aim is to improve the health status of persons serving sentence of “imprisonment” and detainees through active re-socializing activities related to the provision of services and information to improve health awareness of vulnerable communities in prisons in Plovdiv, Stara Zagora and Sliven.
