When Children Give Birth

According to Eurostat data, Bulgaria and Romania are the countries with the highest percentage of underage mothers in the European Union. Every fourth mother under the age of 18 in the EU is Romanian. We closely follow our neighbor in this non-prestigious ranking. The problem of early marriages and births is extremely serious for Bulgaria, as cases of children who gave birth at the age of 10, 11 and 12 have already been established. Why and how this affects not only the children who have given birth to children, but also the entire demographic picture of our country – we talked about the topic with Dr. Radosveta Stamenkova, who is the executive director of the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association.
