Final Meeting of the Project ‘Youth Voices, Youth Choices’ in Albania

From May 3 to 6, 2023, in Tirana, a nine-member delegation participated on behalf of BFPA in the final meeting of the ‘Youth Voices, Youth Choices’ project, which is being implemented in four other countries besides Bulgaria – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia.

On our side, the meeting was attended by four of the most active young volunteers in the project – Victoria, Alex, Ioana and Maria, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Petar Buchkov, the chief expert from the NCSOZA Anina Chileva, the researcher Venelin Stoychev and Rada and Polly from the BFPA team. We presented the results of the work of the Bulgarian team and the film on the project, and Ioana Pencheva spoke about the main demands of young people. On the second day, the meeting moved to the Albanian Parliament together with the Chairmen of the health and youth committees, where Victoria Nikolova talks about young people’s access to health care. A declaration was signed with young people’s demands for changes in health systems and education tailored to their needs.
Our colleagues unanimously and repeatedly said that the work of the Bulgarian team is an inspiration to them. Throughout the meeting, the Bulgarian ambassador to Albania Ivaylo Kirov and his deputy Asen Pachev participated with us, who made us feel special and cared for. We hope to host a meeting in Sofia in the summer to continue working together with for the young people. Huge thanks to MERCK’s MSD For Mothers program, which supports the project in all five countries.
