BFPA at the youth festival MY SOFIA YOUTH WITH CAUSES

According to data from the “National Program for the Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS” at the Ministry of Health, from the beginning of the year to May 11, 2023, 77 new HIV-positive persons were registered, which means that the carriers of HIV in the country from 1986 to now there are 4,125 persons. 86% of the newly registered were sexually infected and 14% – by injecting drug use. As of March 31, 2023, a total of 2,236 people with HIV were being followed in HIV/AIDS care units, and 2,200 (98%) of them were receiving modern antiretroviral therapy.

From BFPA, we participated in the Youth Festival MY SOFIA YOUTH WITH CAUSES (August 11-12, 2023), organized by the Sofia Municipality, which took place at Cabana cinema.
Music under the open sky, various activities and campaigns with causes diversified the event.
At our stand there were materials developed by us and condoms from our partners DUREX, and colleague Dani Dikova informed young people where and when they can get tested and check their HIV status.

At the open stage on the first day after 8 pm, the cult band “Ostava” gave a concert. On Saturday under the starry sky, guests of the event enjoyed a screening of the favorite comedy by director Ivan Andonov “Dangerous Charm”, with the participation Todor Kolev.
The event put the spotlight on three more campaigns with a cause: for the adoption of homeless animals, prevention of the use of alcohol and drugs, and support for people with intellectual disabilities.
