‘Predel on Tape’ – Photo Exhibition within the Framework of a Youth Advocacy Campaign

On February 8, 2023, a photo exhibition ‘Predel on Tape’ was opened at the American University in Blagoevgrad. The exhibition was made by young people from Sofia and Blagoevgrad, involved in the activities of the international project ‘Youth Voices, Youth Choices’ and is part of the advocacy campaign ‘Problems of the Roma community through the prism of young people, presented through the PhotoVoice method’. The photos were taken on tape cameras by young people from the Roma community in Blagoevgrad and students from the American University and show the difficulties of people living in the Predel neighborhood of the town. Main focus is on health needs. The goal is to impress visitors making them think about solutions of problems related to limited access to health services, lack of clean drinking water, lack of infrastructure and ambulance access, garbage collection, and more.

The exhibition will remain at the University for two weeks, and in April 2023 the photos will be also  presented in the city center – the building of the Municipality of Blagoevgrad, with the youth hoping to find supporters in decision makers that can solve the pointed out problems at the center of their initiative.

The project ‘Youth Voices, Youth Choices’ is implemented in our country by the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA). Partner organizations from Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo and North Macedonia realize similar initiatives in their countries. The project is implemented with the coordinating role of the International Planned Parenthood Federation and is supported by the socially responsible business program of the MSD company.
